XRP Healthcare has announced its official closure and initiated a coordinated delisting process for its XRPH and XRPHAI tokens. After nearly three years of trying to establish a blockchain-based healthcare ecosystem, the venture cited the prolonged bear market and an unsuccessful attempt to go public as key reasons for its discontinuation.
What Led to the Abrupt Closure?
A severe technical crisis was the decisive factor for the closure, according to company management. Independent developers had flagged security issues from the project’s inception. Recent developments revealed that these warnings were largely ignored.
Financial pressures intensified significantly after September 3. Attackers emptied 4,011 XRPH wallets, resulting in an approximate $452,000 loss. This amount included 267,664 XRP as well as the project’s native tokens. A technical review pointed out that the vulnerability did not stem from the XRP Ledger infrastructure. Known as a distributed ledger network, XRP Ledger records XRP transactions.
A technical analysis revealed that the security breach originated not from the XRP Ledger, but directly from the application code.
The issue was attributed to the code structure of the XRP Healthcare application. Its seed phrase generation algorithm was operating with low entropy, allowing attackers to reconstruct private keys offline. Additionally, further security violations were uncovered when the application was decompiled, displaying the transmission of users’ seed phrase data over the network.
Was the Token Model Flawed?
The team faced criticism concerning its documents and token model. Vet Goose publicly confirmed refusal of grant applications, citing inaccuracies in partnership claims as the reason. He argued that the health platform never required its own token and criticized the wallet architecture as unprofessional.
Vet Goose emphasized that the health platform did not need its own token and described the wallet architecture as lacking professionalism.
Management expressed full confidence in their hired developers and admitted only learning of the seed phrase data transmission issue post-attack. Ripple ecosystem’s harsh critiques were deemed inappropriate by the team, although they offered no detailed defense against technical accusations.
- Closure largely influenced by a severe technical crisis and ignored security warnings.
- Significant financial loss occurred from emptied XRPH wallets.
- Criticism focused on inaccurate partnership assertions and unnecessary token development.
- Permanent disconnection of XRPH Wallet applications from the network planned.
The company views liquidation as inevitable, deeming continued operations as economically unfeasible. The XRPH Wallet applications will be permanently disconnected from the network, and management is in talks with cryptocurrency exchanges regarding the withdrawal schedule. Details of the delisting process will be determined by each platform individually, meaning withdrawal deadlines and asset withdrawal rules may vary from one exchange to another.
