Clearpool is embarking on a major transformation as it plans to transition from its current Ethereum-based infrastructure to the XRP Ledger network. With this shift, the project is set to overhaul its native token system, replacing the CPOOL token with the new CLEAR token. This strategic move aims to enhance Clearpool’s position within the on-chain credit marketplace, particularly focusing on enterprise-level operations on the XRPL.
What Does the XRPL Migration Mean?
The integration into the XRP Ledger signifies more than just a simple technical migration. It represents an opportunity for Clearpool to harness the untapped liquidity within the XRPL ecosystem, which until recently was lacking in decentralized financial tools compared to Ethereum. By entering this space early, Clearpool endeavors to implement a model reminiscent of Ethereum’s Morpho with a concentrated focus on providing solutions for real-world businesses and private credit sectors.
RLUSD’s Role in the Shift?
Clearpool’s plan is more comprehensive than a rebranding effort. In collaboration with Cicada Partners, it’s launching a corporate credit fund to finance fintech and payment companies. This fund mandates that all transactions occur exclusively in RLUSD, Ripple‘s regulated USD-pegged stablecoin, marking a significant development in how institutional credit markets might operate on XRPL.
Ripple has joined the initiative as a limited partner, contributing to the liquidity of initial credit pools. The technical framework of the system is currently undergoing testing on Devnet, with mainnet validators preparing for a crucial vote on the activation of these enhancements.
- Clearpool aims to cement its footprint in the institutional credit domain on XRPL.
- The transition includes launching a credit fund with Cicada Partners, exclusively using RLUSD for transactions.
- Security infrastructure and creditor verification will be managed by Hex Trust, ensuring compliance with regulatory norms.
- A new deflationary economic model will govern the CLEAR token, burning 50% of fees and distributing the rest to active stakeholders.
Token holders are invited to participate in a two-week community discussion on Clearpool’s forum, assessing the upcoming changes. Following this, the migration plan, along with the activation of the XRPL pools, is set to proceed to a general Snapshot vote by token holders.
