Fairshake, a prominent political action committee in the crypto sector, has announced its support for 32 incumbent members of the U.S. House of Representatives seeking re-election in the upcoming November elections. The endorsements include 13 Democrats and 19 Republicans, reflecting the committee’s bipartisan approach.
Support Focuses on Secure Seats
The majority of candidates receiving Fairshake’s endorsement are running in districts where their re-election prospects are high. This strategic positioning aligns with the sector’s aim to maintain its existing crypto-friendly relationships within Congress and strengthen its ties with key legislative players.
The organization is allocating substantial support of $1 million each to six candidates through itself and its affiliated entities. Among the Republicans benefiting from this significant backing are House Financial Services Committee Chair French Hill, its senior member Bill Huizenga, and Bryan Steil, who leads the digital assets subcommittee. Fairshake is renowned as a super PAC at the forefront of campaigns shaped around U.S. crypto regulations.
“Fairshake operates in a focus-driven manner rather than along party lines, supporting crypto-friendly candidates who champion American innovation within both parties,” noted Fairshake’s spokesperson Geoff Vetter.
Significant Backing for Democratic Candidates
Among Democrats, significant support has been extended to Nevada Representative Steven Horsford and Derek Tran from California. Fairshake has also identified Janelle Bynum as a prominent beneficiary. These three candidates have garnered an A rating from Stand With Crypto for their policies on digital assets.
Oregon Democrat Representative Janelle Bynum notably won her seat two years ago by defeating Republican Lori Chavez DeRemer. Chavez DeRemer subsequently served as the U.S. Secretary of Labor under President Donald Trump but resigned earlier this year amid allegations of various misconducts. During her first term, Bynum backed crypto-related bills and participated in the DC Blockchain Summit organized by the Digital Chamber.
Committee Balance Seen as Crucial for Sector
A significant portion of the endorsed 32 candidates serves on the Ways and Means Committee, which addresses crypto taxation, and the Financial Services Committee, influential in financial regulations. Candidates serving on the Agriculture, Science, and Judiciary Committees are also important given potential upcoming crypto legislation discussions.
According to Vetter, Fairshake has supported the winning side in 53 of the 57 races it participated in during the primaries. The organization aims to form the largest crypto-supportive congressional group in U.S. history, frequently backing candidates from the party with a higher likelihood of winning the general election.
Cautious Strategy on the Senate Front
In legislative terms, the Senate poses more challenges to the crypto sector than the House. Last year, the Senate passed the GENIUS Act focused on stablecoins but failed to advance the more critical Digital Asset Market Clarity Act last month.
Despite not initiating a widespread public campaign against senators opposing the latter bill, Fairshake’s most significant countereffort targets former Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown, who is attempting a return to the Senate.
Fairshake has designated approximately $30 million to thwart Brown’s re-election bid. In addition, a separate PAC established by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss has contributed $3 million to anti-Brown efforts.
