The native asset of the Stellar network, XLM, has experienced a nearly 10% decline over the past week, igniting fresh concerns among traders as the price approaches the critical $0.20 threshold. Known for facilitating cross-border transactions, Stellar’s blockchain is currently grappling with diminished recovery momentum, notably visible since September’s rally faded.
Escalating Short-Term Pressure
XLM has witnessed a steep 6% drop in the past 24 hours, trading around $0.2031. Its market capitalization has receded to $7.11 billion, accompanied by a 7.52% decrease in its 24-hour trading volume, settling at $202.65 million. This decline underscores a notable weakening in trading enthusiasm accompanying the price pullback.
During the latter part of September, XLM ascended to the $0.233 to $0.235 range, surpassing significant moving averages at the time. However, the upward momentum failed to sustain, leading to a series of lower peaks. The most recent wave of selling has accelerated the downward trend.
XLM’s approach towards the $0.20 mark highlights intensified short-term selling pressure.
Key Levels Under the Spotlight
Currently, XLM has dipped below its short-term average around $0.207. More crucial support lies between $0.190 and $0.197, where long-term moving averages cluster, recognized as a vital zone for preserving the existing upward structure.
Momentum indicators further signal weakness. The daily RSI, which approached the overbought territory during September’s rise, has reverted to the neutral 50 level. The indicator has yet to enter oversold territory, suggesting the potential for further declines.
The Critical Importance of the $0.20 Threshold
The primary level of defense is prominently pegged at $0.20. A decisive breach below this psychological barrier could bring the $0.195 to $0.190 band into focus. Losing ground here may erase much of the technical recovery witnessed throughout September, pushing the price toward $0.18.
Conversely, in an upward scenario, reclaiming the $0.21 level is crucial. Beyond this, the $0.22 region and the previously observed range of $0.233 to $0.235 present new hurdles.
Unless XLM reclaims $0.21, downward pressure prevails in the short term.
Despite a 10% weekly retreat, the broader recovery outlook remains intact. Nevertheless, short-term dynamics indicate a sellers’ dominance. Breaching below $0.19 could further weaken the technical structure, although surpassing $0.22 may revitalize the positive outlook.
