Cardano’s blockchain network has achieved a groundbreaking transaction speed record, processing 436 transactions per second (TPS) in a single block, as reported by blockchain analytics firm Chainspect. This milestone, reached on October 7, surpasses the previous record of 345 TPS, which was also set on the same day, marking a significant advancement in the network’s performance.
Cardano’s Increased Capacity to Manage Transaction Surges
These consecutive records underscore Cardano’s ability to handle short-term transaction surges, with Chainspect highlighting the network’s capacity to maintain a high level of performance even during peaks. They emphasized the network’s efficiency in accommodating sudden transaction influxes.
Chainspect noted, “Cardano’s network can handle sudden bursts of transactional activity, as demonstrated by the record-breaking performance seen on October 7.”
Looking ahead, the implementation of the Ouroboros Leios protocol aims to further elevate Cardano’s scalability, with ambitions to reach a target of 1,000 TPS. This initiative is designed to better equip the network for growing transaction demands more efficiently.
Chainspect also reported a notable increase in Cardano’s monthly revenue, which has reached $70,000, indicating a positive uptick from the previous month and reflecting continued investor interest in the platform.
Cardano’s Rising Prominence Amid New Developments
Market analysis firm Santiment has observed a surge in social media interest surrounding Cardano, reaching its highest levels this year. This spike has been fueled by recent project announcements, including the launch of RealFi on Cardano’s mainnet on October 1, and growing anticipation for the Leios protocol and support from institutional integrators like Fireblocks.
Santiment reports that the social interest surrounding Cardano has reached the highest level of the year, driven by new project launches and expectations of institutional partnerships.
Domain and Wallet Standards Expansion
In its latest move, the Cardano Foundation announced progress in its application for the .ada top-level domain with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’ (ICANN) new generic top-level domain program. This initiative follows a governance decision supported by approximately 75% of the Cardano community.
Approval of this domain is expected to enhance Cardano’s digital visibility and open new opportunities within its ecosystem. The Cardano Foundation, known for its non-profit efforts to support and develop Cardano’s ecosystem, continues to spearhead such initiatives.
Adoption of New Mainnet Standards
Cardano has also integrated support for the Open Wallet Standard with version 1.4.3 of its software. This open-source standard allows applications and AI agents to manage wallets directly on users’ devices and execute transactions across multiple blockchains via a single interface.
Additionally, Cardano has launched the CIP-0113 Programmable Token Standard on its mainnet. This new feature allows organizations issuing stablecoins and other regulated assets to embed compliance frameworks directly into Cardano’s native tokens, providing an innovative solution for regulatory adherence.
