Solana Reaches 1.4 Million Address Milestone as Tokenized Stock Adoption Grows

The Solana network has hit a new peak with 1.4 million active addresses holding tokenized stocks, positioning itself as a leader in the realm of real-world asset tokenization. Recent data indicates a surge in user entries that have propelled Solana ahead in this sector. Despite this growth, blockchain data highlights a divergence in market behavior: individual investors are flocking to the digital versions of stocks from giants like Apple and Tesla, while institutional capital remains cautious, opting for a more measured approach.

Retail Demand Surges While Institutional Capital Remains Cautious

In June, the number of tokenized stock holders on Solana slightly exceeded 500,000. In recent weeks, a significant influx of users has driven this figure to 1.4 million. This growth is largely attributed to the 24/7 nature of blockchain-based transactions. In contrast to traditional U.S. stock markets, which close on Friday evenings, blockchain transactions continue uninterrupted. Notably, 65% of transaction volume now occurs outside of the standard U.S. trading hours.

Despite reaching 1.4 million addresses holding tokenized stocks on Solana, the primary concentration of capital on the network still lies in stablecoins and U.S. Treasury bonds.

Investors are leveraging digital versions of Nvidia, Apple, and Tesla stocks, as well as shares linked to SpaceX, as collateral in DeFi protocols. This integration exposes traditional securities to the rapid and volatile dynamics of the crypto market.

Capital Allocation in Tokenized Stocks Remains Limited

Despite the surge in address numbers, the financial magnitude of tokenized stocks remains relatively small. On Solana, the capital distribution is dominated by stablecoins at $14.6 billion. U.S. Treasury bonds have reached a size of $1.5 billion, whereas the total value of tokenized stocks lingers at $485.2 million.

This scenario suggests that while individual investor interest is high, major players are not assuming equivalent risks in the equity sector. Larger capital prefers to utilize Solana as a cost-efficient infrastructure for more conservative instruments, issued by platforms like Ondo and Securitize. Securitize is renowned as a regulated platform focused on issuing traditional financial assets on the blockchain.

Infrastructure to Face the Real Test

Globally, the market size for tokenized stock platforms stands at $3.42 billion. The leading platform, bStocks, with a trading volume of $1.2 billion, is followed by xStocks, which ranks third, heavily reliant on Solana with $582 million in volume.

Issuers hope to alleviate operational pressure with the new regulated Token-2022 standard, yet the solution’s resilience will be tested during periods of large-scale dividend payments and corporate transactions.

For Solana, the primary challenge now lies more with operational capacity than user numbers. While supporting 1.4 million active addresses without issues is significant, institutional transactions, such as dividend payments and stock splits, could impose a far heavier load. These processes may necessitate the processing of hundreds of thousands of transactions simultaneously.

Despite the Real-World Assets (RWA) sector’s growth, Solana’s native token, SOL, has not mirrored this momentum. Currently constrained between $100 and $107 due to capital outflows from spot ETFs, a distinct gap persists between network expansion and market valuation.
