The transaction volume on the XRP Ledger escalated to an impressive 770.6 million XRP, marking a 119.6% surge within just 24 hours according to recent XRPScan data. This leap significantly surpasses the 30-day average, previously recorded at 601.9 million XRP, indicating a resurgence in network activity.
Recovery in Transaction Flow Observed
The XRP Ledger functions as an open blockchain network within the Ripple ecosystem, documenting transactions meticulously. A year-long perspective reveals that transaction volumes have experienced erratic jumps, peaking at around 2.6 billion XRP during November and February, while generally fluctuating between 300 million and 700 million XRP on most days.
During quieter periods, the transaction volume plummeted to nearly negligible levels. The recent upswing coming right after these weaker readings heightened its impact. Thus, the 119.6% spike might not signal a sustained trend shift but offers an essential insight into potential usage trends.
Increasing payment volume provides a clearer usage signal than merely examining exchange transactions, as it reflects the actual transfer of XRP between accounts.
Despite this surge, the increase in transaction volume carries significance. It suggests enhanced transfer, settlement, and utilization activity on the network. Following weeks of waning network engagement, this upturn may point towards a revival in utilization dynamics.
Weak Price Outlook Persists
While network metrics have strengthened, the same cannot be said for XRP’s price performance. Currently trading around $1.31, XRP remains below its 100-day moving average of $1.34 and its 200-day moving average of $1.37. Selling pressure earlier in the week nudged the price back to a range of $1.27 to $1.30.
The relative strength index hovers around 40, illustrating weak momentum without venturing into the oversold territory. The decline in trade volume on the price front suggests that investors are adopting a wait-and-see approach.
A genuine recovery demands simultaneous reinforcement of network usage and a boost in buying interest on exchanges.
Critical Levels to Watch
In the short term, the recent support level around $1.25 is crucial to uphold. Breaching this threshold might bring the $1.15 region back into focus. Conversely, a daily close above $1.37 could empower buyers, highlighting $1.45 and $1.55 as subsequent focal points.
Should transaction volumes stay above the 30-day average of 601.9 million XRP in the coming days, XRP’s likelihood of settling above $1.37 may increase. Conversely, if the recent increase proves short-lived, XRP may continue oscillating within its current range.
