The XRP Ledger network has witnessed a startling surge in payment activity over the last 24 hours, with network data indicating a phenomenal 2,633.3% rise, reaching approximately 137.7 million XRP. This remarkable upswing marks a revitalization following a period marked by dwindling transaction volumes, suggesting renewed vitality on the network.
Recovery Not Yet a Trend
Renowned within the Ripple ecosystem for facilitating payments and asset transfers, the XRP Ledger remains under its 30-day average of roughly 496 million XRP, despite this leap. Historically, the network has peaked at payment volumes around 7 billion XRP. Over the past year, transaction volumes have fluctuated significantly, sometimes surpassing 1 billion XRP, and on other occasions receding markedly. Consequently, while the recent spike hints at recovery, it echoes past surges seen in the network.
Despite the eye-catching 2,633.3% increase in daily payment volume, overall activity on the XRPL still lags behind the 30-day average.
However, experts caution that increased volumes don’t necessarily reflect heightened investor interest. Factors such as substantial wallet-to-wallet transfers, exchange-driven transactions, and institutional settlements can spur drastic short-term shifts in total payment figures.
Market Unsettled as XRP Faces Price Pressures
Despite the uptick in network activity, XRP’s market price hasn’t mirrored this resurgence in strength. According to TradingView data, XRP was trading around $1.2879 as of October 26, maintaining a subdued outlook amid sustained selling pressures in recent days.
Following an ascent to approximately $1.58 during September, XRP retraced its gains, and has since struggled to break above several key moving averages. This inability underscores the ongoing dominance of sellers in the short-term technical landscape.
The XRP price continues to trail several significant moving averages despite the dramatic recovery in network volume.
Adding to the skepticism, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) persists below the neutral 50 level, signaling weak buying interest and highlighting that the network’s resurgence has yet to reflect directly on the asset’s market price. The trajectory of XRP remains under scrutiny as market forces play out.
