CEO Brad Garlinghouse emphasized the significance of this year’s conference marking the 10th anniversary of RippleSwell, highlighting key developments in corporate partnerships and regulatory frameworks.
Highlights from Swell’s Opening Day
Swell serves as Ripple’s flagship annual event, bringing together financial institutions, regulators, blockchain developers, and the XRP community. This year’s main sessions, scheduled for October 28 and 29, commenced with a notable video address from U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Brad Garlinghouse expressed his honor at opening the event with Scott Bessent, noting, “The Treasury’s approach is crucial in shaping the regulatory framework for digital assets in the U.S.”
Garlinghouse took to social media to herald a robust start to Swell’s decade-long journey, hinting at further announcements throughout the week.
Expanding Collaborations with Robinhood and BNY
Among the notable steps announced was the expansion of Ripple’s collaboration with Robinhood. Ripple’s financial infrastructure will now integrate with Robinhood’s customer-facing products and internal systems. Robinhood is known for its trading platform catering to individual investors.
Additionally, Ripple extended its partnership with BNY. The collaboration now includes corporate digital asset custody services and tokenized trade finance solutions focused on RLUSD, XRP, and the XRP Ledger. BNY remains a leader in institutional custody and asset services.
Garlinghouse stated the event was still in its initial stages, with further disclosures anticipated before the main program.
Regulatory Milestones and New Approvals
Ripple announced the launch of a 24/7 Returns service under Ripple Treasury, although detailed technical specifications were limited in the initial disclosures.
On the regulatory front, Ripple received final approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to establish Ripple National Trust Bank. Once operational, it will manage RLUSD reserves and corporate digital asset custody services.
In recent years, Ripple has aimed to broaden its offerings in payment infrastructure, custody solutions, and stablecoin products. Announcements made during Swell 2026 reflect Ripple’s intent to expand its scope within corporate finance and regulated digital asset services.
The conference’s main sessions are expected to draw numerous guests from traditional finance and the crypto industry. Ripple management anticipates new announcements throughout the week.
