Recent trends in the cryptocurrency market highlight a resurgence for assets that previously lagged behind strong market gains. XRP has surged to close the week at $1.3988, marking a notable 40.94% increase. Following suit, Stellar‘s token, XLM, experienced a 22.33% weekly rise, closing at $0.19111 and reaching its first significant technical milestone along its mid-term ascendancy.
What Drives Their Unique Rises?
XRP and Stellar’s gains are attributed to different underlying factors. XRP’s price movement gained momentum following Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse’s formal meeting at the White House concerning the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. Ripple is recognized for its innovative cross-border payment solutions and enterprise blockchain technology.
On the other hand, Stellar is making strides in the tokenization of real-world assets. With assets surpassing $3 billion on its network, Stellar has positioned itself as a global leader in this domain. The network has become the frontrunner in tokenizing non-U.S. government debt, leveraging collaborations with entities like Franklin Templeton and Ondo, amassing approximately $490 million in asset tokenizations.
In the medium term, Stellar’s integration with DTCC, overseeing $114 trillion in assets, sparks significant interest. Scheduled plans include the transfer of Russell 1000 index securities and ETFs onto the Stellar network by the first half of 2027.
Stellar’s Network Enhancements?
Stellar’s growth is bolstered by its 2,968 monthly active developers and the Protocol 28 update. Known as an adapter, this update is expected to enhance network capacity by 65%, boosting transaction throughput to 3,351 per second.
In the Ripple ecosystem, commercial infrastructure is advancing. Ripple Prime recently raised $275 million through corporate bond issuance. The RLUSD stablecoin has received approval in Japan and is authorized under the MiCA framework in Europe. Meanwhile, XRPL validators prepare to launch local lending pools via modifications XLS 65 and XLS 66 in collaboration with Clearpool.
XLM’s weekly chart shows a rebound from a low of $0.15232, following XRP’s trajectory. While XRP approaches overbought territory near $1.40, XLM is exploring moving averages between $0.191 and $0.194, leaving room for further gains.
- XLM could target $0.26 and $0.30 if it closes above the $0.217-$0.230 resistance on a weekly basis.
- If unable to breach $0.195, XLM may retest support at $0.177 and $0.152 as short-term profit-taking strengthens.
Although Stellar trails XRP’s momentum, its leadership in real-world asset tokenization and its technical update schedule command attention. The upcoming Protocol 28 vote in mid-September and developments regarding the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in Washington will play pivotal roles in determining the market’s next direction.
