XRP is currently trading around the $1.40 mark, as it navigates key technical levels that stand out for both short-term and long-term directional trends. Despite being notably below its 2025 peak of $3.66, analysts are closely monitoring signals that emerge from both short- and long-term charts.
What Does the Long-Term Picture Reveal?
A cryptocurrency analyst, Ali Martinez, draws attention to a rising triangle pattern on the monthly chart, spanning nearly a decade. Known in technical circles as a configuration where a horizontal resistance line meets increasingly higher lows, this pattern features a significant resistance level at $3.66. A monthly close above this target could affirm this formation, according to Martinez.
Martinez notes that achieving a monthly close above $3.66 could set the stage for larger technical targets. However, since the current price hovers around $1.40, this scenario remains a distant possibility, leaving shorter-term resistance areas more influential for market dynamics.
Is $1.39 a Critical Support Level in the Short-Term?
The short-term outlook presents a more cautious scenario. After closing at $1.45 on September 3, XRP dipped to $1.40 on September 4, and then to $1.41 on September 5. One evaluation from TradingView points to the $1.39 level as critical, alongside the 200-day simple moving average hovering around $1.3927.
Maintaining levels above $1.3887 is crucial for preserving a bullish short-term structure. If prices reclaim the $1.4018 to $1.4057 range, testing of $1.4132 and $1.4267 becomes possible. Conversely, slipping below $1.3887 could shift focus to the $1.36 to $1.35 range.
XRP finds itself wedged between a $1.39 support level and resistance in the $1.47 to $1.53 range. Notably, breaking above this resistance suggests a move towards:
- A strong support zone at $1.39, crucial for maintaining structure.
- Resistance between $1.47 and $1.53 as key breakout territory.
- Potential target areas of $1.80 to $2.30 if resistance clears.
Could Institutional Interest Alter Price Dynamics?
Institutional interest is emerging as a focal point for XRP alongside technical indicators. Ripple, a blockchain company known for its cross-border payment solutions linked with XRP, announced an increase in adoption for spot ETFs in April. The company highlighted continuous entries into regulated spot ETF products following the 2025 launches, underscoring growing institutional involvement.
Matt Hougan, Bitwise’s Chief Investment Officer, interprets regular money inflows into XRP ETFs as a signal of institutional demand. Meanwhile, JPMorgan forecasts potential entries ranging between $4 billion and $8.4 billion in the first year, although these are projections rather than actual figures.
For XRP, the $1.37 to $1.39 range serves as a near-term support, while the main resistance lies in the $1.47 to $1.53 range. Should the price stabilize above this band, targets around $1.80 and $2.30 may come into play. Yet, losing the support area might weaken recovery prospects and extend the current sideways trend.
