Starknet Foundation is planning to distribute 1.8 billion of its native Layer-2 network token, STRK, as user rewards and incentives. The details of the distribution are still under development and unknown.

A special committee, known as the Generosity Committee, is set to distribute rewards to community members through an airdrop event. This committee will gradually distribute 900 million STRK tokens in recognition of the past and future contributions of users and community members.

Following a tweet announcing the collection of airdrop data and a brief appearance of the draft eligibility criteria for the airdrop on the Starknet domain website, Starknet Foundation announced this plan. The Foundation mentioned that they are working on the initial phase of the distributions and official announcements will be made soon.

In addition to the distribution of STRK tokens, the foundation is planning a reward program to support or reimburse users for transaction costs. A second committee will distribute 900 million STRK tokens to cover transaction fees for users on the network.

A third group, the DeFi Committee, will allocate 50 million STRK tokens to encourage activity on DeFi protocols in the network and to increase liquidity. Starknet Foundation had previously announced that the total supply of STRK is 10 billion, with 50% being held by the foundation itself. The remainder will be allocated to key developers and contributors who add value to the ecosystem and community.
