AltLayer Announces Upcoming Airdrop and Token Distribution for Scaling Solution

AltLayer, a scaling service provider for rollup protocols, has announced that its airdrop and token distribution will take place on January 25th. The team revealed that a snapshot for testnet users was taken on January 17th, according to their official announcement on Medium.

As an open and decentralized protocol for rollups, AltLayer enhances the performance and reliability of solutions like Arbitrum Orbit, OP Stack, and Polygon CDK. The team offers three core services: state verification for rollups, faster transaction finalization, and decentralized ordering.

Within the AltLayer ecosystem are significant rollups such as EigenLayer, Celestia, and Astria. AltLayer also supports notable Web3 protocols like Blockscout, Dexguru, and Connext and plans to expand partnerships within the Ethereum ecosystem.

The governance token, ALT, will be launched on January 25th, with Binance being the only central crypto exchange announcing the listing at the time of writing. AltLayer shared airdrop criteria for early users, including AltLayer OG Badge NFT holders, Oh Ottie! NFT holders, participants in the Altitude campaign, EigenLayer restakers, and Celestia stakers. The total ALT supply is set at 10 billion, with 1.1 billion tokens to be initially released and 15% reserved for airdrop events.

The snapshot for all qualified addresses was taken on January 17th at Ethereum block number 19022890. AltLayer emphasized that this airdrop is just the first event and hinted at more to come in the future.
