Binance Labs Invests in Solayer

Binance Labs, the venture capital and incubation branch of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance, has ventured into the Solana restaking protocol Solayer, investing a significant sum. This move is part of Binance Labs’ broader strategy of delving into the staking and restaking domains within the crypto ecosystem. Recently, Binance Labs has allocated funds to various staking projects including Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Berachain. Notable investments include Ethereum liquidity staking protocols Puffer Finance and Renzo, Bitcoin staking protocol Babylon, and Berachain liquidity staking protocol Infrared.

Understanding Solayer

Solayer is a restaking protocol on the Solana network, paralleling the innovative Ethereum restaking protocol EigenLayer. The premise of restaking allows users to amplify their returns by locking their staked assets in multiple protocols, termed Active Validated Services (AVS), to garner additional rewards.

On the Solayer platform, native Solana (SOL) is initially transformed into a liquid staking token (LST) named sSOL-raw, issued by the staking pool manager. Subsequently, sSOL-raw is converted into sSOL through further interaction with the Solayer restaking pool manager, offering an efficient method for SOL restaking.

What is the Current Price of Solana?

Recent data highlights that Solayer’s Total Value Locked (TVL) surged from $60 million to over $150 million soon after its market introduction. This leap positioned Solayer as the 13th largest protocol on Solana. Presently, Solayer’s TVL stands at $141.7 million, with over 79,000 investors locking their tokens on the platform.

Amid these advancements, the price of Solana caught attention. Currently, Solana is trading at $148.23, marking a 1.47% increase over the past 24 hours. Despite this uptrend, Solana’s trading volume has decreased by 18.5% to $5.4 billion, hinting at waning investor interest. Solana’s market capitalization now exceeds $69 billion.
