Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr has revealed the exploitation of a security vulnerability in Bitcoin Core. According to Dashjr, a group named Inscription is using this vulnerability for spam activities. The seriousness of the situation demonstrates Dashjr’s determination to provide a definite solution before the release of version 27 next year.
Dashjr stated that after the security vulnerability is fixed, tokens such as Ordinals and BRC-20 will be rendered ineffective. This bold statement highlights the developer’s commitment to eliminating exploitation and ensuring the integrity of Bitcoin Core.
The expected fix in version 27 aims to strengthen the security against vulnerabilities and provide a stronger foundation for the future. Shenyu, co-founder of f2pool, evaluated the situation within the community and emphasized that Bitcoin operates on a decentralized model, unlike platforms like Ethereum, and that developers do not have absolute decision-making power.
