A crypto fundraising campaign launched with the aim of improving the lives of children worldwide has collected $7.6 million to date. Half of the donations were made in Ethereum. Save the Children’s HODL Hope Campaign is only $2.4 million away from its target of $10 million by the end of 2023.
At the time of writing, Ethereum represents 50% of the $7.6 million fund collected, meaning that donations in Ethereum amounted to $3.83 million. Bitcoin donations constitute 34% of the total crypto assets donated, reaching just over $2.6 million.
The US dollar-backed stablecoin USD Coin, initiated by Circle, became the third most preferred crypto asset in the campaign launched by the crypto community to help children. USDC donations reached $520,000, making up 7% of the assets considered in the campaign.
During the campaign, 2% of donations were made in US dollars, followed by significant altcoin projects such as Bitcoin Cash, Tezos, ThunderCore, Tether, Litecoin, and Solana. The Own The Doge (DOG) and PleasrDAO communities topped the donor leadership board by contributing over $1 million with 291.16 Ethereum. During this process, donors can participate in the campaign anonymously and choose not to appear on the leadership board.
The campaign facilitates the cross-border movement of funds, enabling broader participation in donation activities for global purposes. Recently, the humanitarian aid and community service charity Singapore Red Cross announced that it started accepting crypto donations. By collaborating with Triple-A, they began accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, and USDC. The Secretary-General and CEO of Singapore Red Cross, Benjamin William, stated, “We are opening our doors to a new segment of donors who are tech-savvy and want to make a difference through cryptocurrency assets.”
