Buterin emphasized the importance of Single-Slot Finality (SSF) as a simple solution to many of Ethereum’s current design weaknesses. SSF has the potential to address critical aspects of Ethereum’s design challenges. He also praised the progress in Layer-2 networks and the successful implementation of Verkle trees, a data structure that allows Ethereum nodes to store large amounts of state data without losing the ability to verify blocks.

This battle is waged in two main areas: reducing risks associated with MEV and addressing concerns of economic centralization through liquid staking pools.
