Should it be realized, Ethereum users could engage in entirely private transactions of ETH and ERC-20 tokens without the need for supporting applications or alternate networks.
How Does EIP-8182 Aim to Optimize Privacy?
Introduced in March by Facet platform co-founder Lehman, EIP-8182 offers a new database, combining the scattered privacy systems into one cohesive entity on Ethereum. This consolidation promises better anonymity, unlike current fragmented tools that force users into separate platforms and diminish privacy levels.
“The present disjointed privacy setup isolates activities, reducing overall user anonymity. There’s a dire need for an integrated privacy model,” said Lehman.
Technically advanced, EIP-8182 integrates a smart contract based on the unspent transaction output (UTXO) model, allowing Ethereum operations without administrative intervention. With its validation powered by the Groth16 BN254 proof system, it stands at the forefront of zero-knowledge technology.

This ambitious project merges the functionalities of the Bogota execution layer client with the Heze consensus layer client. With previous advancements like February’s FOCIL innovation shaping the landscape, mainnet-level privacy through EIP-8182 emerges as a focal point.
