One of Turkey’s major banks, Garanti BBVA, has launched its cryptocurrency wallet and transfer application called Garanti BBVA Kripto. Initially, the application focuses on the secure storage of digital currencies such as Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and USD Coin (USDC), and it is currently only available for download on the iOS platform. The availability for the Android platform is also expected soon.
In August, Garanti BBVA opened its Garanti BBVA Kripto wallet and transfer service for pilot use. This service was initially offered to bank employees via internal email. According to a report by Webrazzi, after a period of five months, the Garanti BBVA Kripto application was officially made available to everyone on the iOS platform.
The application currently offers secure storage services for the largest cryptocurrency, BTC, the biggest altcoin, ETH, and the second-largest stablecoin, USDC. The range of supported cryptocurrencies is expected to expand over time.
Garanti BBVA Kripto stands out as a cryptocurrency wallet and transfer service that focuses especially on securing cryptocurrencies through the cold wallet method. The application seems to be specifically designed to protect cryptocurrencies against digital attacks, data breaches, and cyber risks.
To use the Garanti BBVA Kripto application, it is necessary to first create an account. Subsequently, identity verification must be done with the new identity card uploaded to the system, and a transfer of 1 Turkish Lira is mandatory to activate the account. Account activation procedures are not limited to Garanti BBVA and can be carried out 24/7 through other banks such as Ziraat Bankası, Vakıfbank, Halkbank.
