The Algorand Foundation announced that their CEO, Staci Warden’s social media account was hacked, urging the community to avoid clicking links or responding to direct messages. The hacker’s motives surprised everyone as they targeted the blockchain sector, which continues to face security challenges.
On January 26, the hacker used Warden’s official account to post a derogatory and racist comment about the Algorand community, suggesting the account was under their control. They also encouraged the community to sell Algorand assets and buy Ethereum instead.
Following the initial post, the hacker shared a satirical story about how Tron‘s founder, Justin Sun, could take Algorand to new heights, suggesting that all that was needed was to give Sun full control over Algorand and allow any token to be re-minted to True USD.
The hacker also used a striking statement to claim that Sun’s projects would be responsible for the next major financial collapse in the cryptocurrency space.
Additionally, the hacker released a song through the account and changed Warden’s profile biography, claiming she had already left the Algorand Foundation and was now a semi-professional dancer. Some community members reacted humorously to the hacker’s satirical posts, while others used the opportunity to criticize Warden.
