How Are Global Policies Influencing India?

Recent alterations in digital asset policies around the world are prompting India to reconsider its regulatory framework. Notably, new measures introduced in the United States have caught India’s attention as a significant factor in this evaluation.

What Does India’s Regulatory Update Entail?

Ajay Seth, the Secretary for Economic Affairs, revealed that the government is actively refining its discussion paper on digital assets. This initiative reflects an intention to align Indian regulations with ongoing global developments.

Ajay Seth remarked, “Changes are noted in the usage and acceptance of digital assets in certain regions. Thus, we are revisiting the discussion paper.”

The establishment of a working group by the U.S. President to investigate the cross-border consequences of digital assets is also seen as a key influence on India’s discussions. This underlines the necessity for constant observation of international practices.

India recognizes the impact that various countries’ regulatory stances on digital assets can have on its own approach. The country intends to adopt international standards by learning from the experiences of others during its regulatory review.

The ongoing regulatory revisions aim to reduce uncertainties within the digital asset markets. The anticipated reforms are expected to resonate with initiatives being proposed globally, fostering new economic opportunities.
