Innovation and Competition in the Blockchain Sector: Turkey’s Approach

Innovations in the blockchain sector are being monitored worldwide, and governments are competing to attract companies developing this new technology. Despite hosting major crypto companies, the United States is not fully utilizing its potential due to regulatory uncertainties. So, what is Turkey doing about this?

A Blockchain summit will be organized on the 15th, 16th, and 17th of December at the main campus under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This summit, which has become one of the events we are accustomed to in Turkey, has hosted various hackathons and programs to date but has not yet produced any major initiatives in this area.

The Minister of Youth and Sports and his Deputy, Emin Emioğlu, delivered the opening speech at the event that started this afternoon. Sessions were held on Blockchain Technology and the Role of Youth in the Blockchain Ecosystem, as well as the Application Areas of Blockchain Technology in Public Institutions and Organizations, and a 24-hour Hackathon will start on Saturday.

A hackathon is an event where experts in the field develop products throughout the duration of the event, and the successful ones are rewarded at the end. This technical competition offers a chance for those who want to establish a network in the field and for teams who want to document their success to prove themselves. In the event that started today, developers will be able to prepare products in six different areas.

On the evening of the third day, at 17:45, the top three projects will receive awards of 5000, 3000, and 2000 dollars respectively.

Some well-known figures in the Turkish crypto community will participate as speakers at the event.
