The iconic 1993 sci-fi shooter game ‘Doom’ has been immortalized on the Dogecoin (DOGE) Blockchain by an anonymous developer known as minidogeart, celebrating the game’s 30th anniversary. This novel approach stores the entire game data on the Dogecoin Blockchain, making it permanently accessible and independent of any external sources.
Since May, developers have been able to store artistic collections and games on the Dogecoin Blockchain using inscription technology. This feature has propelled Dogecoin beyond its status as a meme-themed cryptocurrency, enhancing its utility and ecosystem.
Inscriptions are digital entries that store data on a Blockchain, including images, videos, audio, and text files. This technology, referred to as “Doginals” on the Dogecoin Blockchain, is similar to Bitcoin Ordinals and represents a relatively new feature in the Blockchain ecosystem.
Such features contribute to the foundational growth of a cryptocurrency and can lead to price increases due to rising demand. In May 2023, the hype around Dogecoin inscriptions drove transaction volumes to all-time highs, resulting in a 10% increase in the altcoin’s price.
While transaction activity on the Dogecoin Blockchain cooled down in the previous month, it has recently started to heat up again. On-chain data indicates that the number of transactions has surged from 90,000 at the beginning of the month to 420,000 as of today.
