US-based tech enterprise Bitmine Immersion Technologies significantly increased its Ethereum (ETH) holdings, reaching over 5.18 million ETH as of May 3, 2026. This acquisition positions the company among the largest institutional holders of Ethereum worldwide, with its holdings now comprising 4.29% of the global supply.
Why Is Bitmine Expanding Its ETH Holdings?
Initially launched in June 2025, Bitmine’s Ethereum strategy focused on acquiring large volumes of the cryptocurrency. The company swiftly grew its holdings from zero to over 833,000 ETH within just 35 days. Originally, Bitmine entered the crypto scene through Bitcoin, procuring approximately 254 BTC. By mid-2025, however, it redirected its efforts entirely to Ethereum, securing 566,000 ETH in a series of transactions throughout July.
Continuous purchases over the months have elevated Bitmine’s cryptocurrency portfolio, surpassing the 5 million ETH mark in under a year. The company adheres to a long-term vision known as the “5 percent Alchemy” target. It is now close to achieving 86% of this goal, requiring an additional 843,000 ETH to complete it. At its current acquisition rate, Bitmine plans to hit the target within two months.
Bitmine’s current portfolio represents 4.29 percent of the total Ethereum supply. The company is continuing its regular weekly acquisitions to achieve its 5 percent goal.
By May 2026, Bitmine had aggregated an impressive asset portfolio: 5,180,131 ETH, 200 Bitcoin, a $200 million stake in Beast Industries, an $83 million share in Eightco Holdings, and $700 million in liquidity. The firm’s total asset valuation now stands at a whopping $13.1 billion.
What Returns Do Staking Activities Generate?
Of its substantial Ethereum treasure, Bitmine has staked 4,362,757 ETH, valued currently at $10.2 billion, through its MAVAN platform and affiliated services. This staking activity represents 84% of its Ethereum assets, bringing in an annual profit of approximately $297 million from staking returns.
Originally created for internal management, Bitmine’s MAVAN (Made in America Validator Network) extended its staking services to institutional entities and business partners. Bitmine claims it now stands as the largest institutional staker of Ethereum worldwide.
