Solana Mobile has embarked on a new initiative with the launch of the SKR coin distribution, designed to offer Seeker smartphone ecosystem users more control and opportunity. Scheduled between Tuesday and Wednesday, this distribution allows users of Seeker to claim their SKR coins and further decide on staking them. Necessary steps include accessing the Activity Tracking section within the Seed Vault Wallet, requiring a minimal balance of SOL.
How Can Users Participate?
Eligible users are granted a period of 90 days to claim their SKR coins. The Activity Tracking section in Seed Vault Wallet is where users can make their claims and choose to stake their coins. This process requires a small SOL balance to cover network transaction fees.
Should any SKR coins remain unclaimed by April 20, they will revert to the AirDrop pool. Solana Mobile confirms eligibility by reviewing verified activity data on users’ Seeker devices and applications.
What’s in It for Developers?
This initiative extends beyond individual users; developers with applications ready for the Solana dApp Store during Seeker Season 1 can access SKR distributions through the Publishing Portal. Solana Mobile’s endeavor reflects a deliberate investment in a user-empowered ecosystem.
SKR, an SPL token, is a part of Solana Mobile’s Web3 platform for the Seeker device, which aims to build on the foundation set by its predecessor, the Saga phone. With a capped supply of 10 billion coins, this distribution aims to incentivize ecosystem growth, development, and governance.
Distribution plans allocate 30% of coins for AirDrop, 25% for ecosystem expansion, 10% for liquidity and initiation purposes, and the remainder among the community treasury, Solana Mobile, and Solana Labs.
Here are key details about the distribution design:
- Governance and staking mechanisms allow SKR holders to delegate coins for rewards.
- Initial inflation is set at 10% in the first year, tapering annually by 25%.
- The final steady-state inflation rate will stabilize at 2%.
- Seeker Season 2 will introduce expanded applications and new rewards.
The SKR initiative by Solana Mobile underscores a strategic shift towards deeper user involvement and aligns users with network goals.
“Network usage becomes network ownership with deepened user involvement,” a Solana representative highlighted.
