Ripple has initiated its monthly release of XRP from its escrow accounts, unlocking a total of 1 billion XRP at the onset of October. According to Whale Alert, the complete release was distributed across four transactions: 400 million XRP, 200 million XRP, 300 million XRP, and 100 million XRP.
Escrow Cycle and Market Implications
At the time of release, these transactions were valued at $595.6 million, $297.8 million, $446.7 million, and $148.9 million, respectively, constituting a combined market value of approximately $1.49 billion. Ripple frequently conducts these releases at the start of each month. However, not all the XRP enters circulation immediately, as a substantial portion of it has been historically returned to escrow. Generally, between 700 million to 800 million XRP are re-secured, with the remaining portions deployed for operational expenditures and ecosystem development.
Ripple’s monthly escrow releases highlight 1 billion XRP, though not all enters the market immediately.
Current Supply Dynamics
According to XRPScan, the amount of XRP held in escrow currently stands at 31,845,130,805, representing 31.9% of the total supply. The circulating supply accounts for 68,126,080,636 XRP, or 68.1% of the total 100 billion XRP supply. To date, 14,394,279 XRP have been burned.
Investors are keenly observing how much XRP Ripple will re-secure in its escrow accounts over the next 24 hours, which will clarify the net amount actually released this month. Currently, the XRP remaining in escrow hovers around 31.845 billion, slightly below the previous total of 32.4 billion XRP observed in recent months.
XRPL Developments: Voting and Transactions
Technical advancements continue within the XRPL ecosystem as voting for the implementation of LendingProtocolV1_1 has commenced. This change introduces close-ended vaults and cash-based accounting to XRPL’s lending framework, seen as necessary for further progression of Lending Protocol and Single Asset Vault amendments.
In the payments landscape, XRP Ledger (XRPL) has surpassed a notable milestone with more than 10 million x402-based transactions completed. This growth occurred in under three months after hitting the 1 million mark.
JA Akinyele, RippleX’s Head of Engineering, notes that despite A.I. agents driving transactional volume, x402 utilization is expanding across financial data, risk, credit, and other agent-centric API services.
Akinyele also reported reaching 500,000 payments per day over the past week. Meanwhile, Brazil’s central securities depository, CSD BR, has started recording securities ownership on a public blockchain via the XRP Ledger. Collaborating with Ripple, CSD BR initially moved BTG Pactual fund shares onto the blockchain under the custody of Ripple Custody.
