Starknet’s Community Voting and Airdrop Buzz

Recent airdrop events in the blockchain ecosystem have led to significant gains for users, sparking discussions about the processes involved. Starknet, an Ethereum Layer-2 network, has opened community voting on the transition of major updates from the testnet to the mainnet in Starknet v0.13.0. Despite hints of an airdrop from the team, no developments have occurred, stirring debates within the crypto community.

Updates to the process will facilitate transaction fee payments with Starknet’s native token, STRK, in addition to Ethereum. STRK has not yet been launched, and the impact of the voting on its release is unclear. Community members can share opinions and vote on the Starknet Governance Center from January 4 to January 8, contributing to the protocol’s developments.

Some community members are confused about how voting can take place before the STRK airdrop event, but the voting is based on delegates, not token holders. Last year, the Starknet Foundation distributed voting power to a broad group of independent delegates and encouraged all community members to join the discussion and express their views on the proposed update in the community forum.

The Starknet team has continued work on the airdrop event, igniting a major debate with the launch of their official airdrop webpage and Starknet Governance page. Despite claims that these web addresses were fake, the use of the official Starknet domain confirmed their legitimacy.

Following these developments, the Starknet team announced that the necessary information for the airdrop event was collected from the ecosystem, officially starting the airdrop process. However, the team’s silence has led to a decrease in transaction volume and a significant drop in the Total Value Locked (TVL) within the Starknet ecosystem.
