In a significant move for the XRP Ledger, the mainnet is set to implement the Batch V1.1 update within five days. This update emerges as a substitute amendment, incorporating the refined Batch application from version xrpld v3.3.0. If the timeline is adhered to, the Batch V1.1 and the fixBatchV1_2 amendments will activate concurrently on October 9, 2026.
Activation Timeline Adjustments
According to XRPScan data, the countdown for Batch activation was reset, leading to an adjustment in the timeline. Previously, the amendment had garnered majority support, with an anticipated activation date of September 29, 2026. However, after a temporary rejection, the XRPL began its bi-weekly approval process anew.
For amendments to be enacted on the XRPL, over 80% of trusted validators must sustain their support over a two-week period. Should support fall beneath this threshold, the amendment is temporarily rejected, and the countdown restarts.
“For an amendment to become active in the XRP Ledger, more than 80% of trusted validators must maintain their support for two consecutive weeks.”
Synchronized Transition with Technical Corrections
This procedural change was driven by a minor issue identified in the xrpld 3.4.1 version correction. Consequently, the XRP community altered their voting preferences to ensure that the Batch feature would commence simultaneously with its corrective update.
Technically termed XLS 56, the Batch feature facilitates the atomic execution of numerous XRPL transactions from multiple accounts in one ledger closure. In this all-or-nothing execution mode, if one internal transaction fails, the entire package is rolled back.
“The rollback of the entire package upon any internal transaction failure makes the Batch feature particularly advantageous for multilateral financial settlements.”
Corporate Applications Take Center Stage
The Batch feature is crucial for certain high-value XRPL usage scenarios that are either contractually bound or actively under development, as it can expedite these processes. Among these scenarios are atomic multilateral settlement transactions.
Batch is not the sole update awaiting arrival on the mainnet. The permission transfer amendment is also expected to be activated on October 8, 2026. This timeline suggests the imminent succession of two substantial structural changes in quick succession on the XRPL.
RippleX Shares Development Agenda
At the recent XRP Seoul event, JA Akinyele, head of engineering at RippleX, detailed the major innovations being constructed to support a new wave of developers, institutions, and users on the XRP Ledger. RippleX, Ripple‘s developer-focused technology unit, plays a crucial role in the XRPL ecosystem’s infrastructure projects.
According to Akinyele’s framework, the XRPL architecture is being extensively upgraded to respond to increasingly complex on-chain financial transactions. Notable structural features in this process include formal verification, robust testing methodologies, and transaction packaging, aimed at boosting system efficiency and enabling developers to build more scalable applications.
