The XRP Ledger ecosystem is gearing up for a significant mainnet update. Dubbed fixCleanup3_4_0, this update could go live on November 4, 2026, at 14:46 UTC, provided it receives continued support from validators. The update includes improvements and corrections across various domains such as Single Asset Vaults, lending protocols, automated market makers, permissioned DEX structure, trust line recordings, NFTs, Multi-Party Transactions (MPTs), escrow functionalities, sponsorships, transaction signing, and delegation.

Validator Approval is Crucial for Implementation

For this update to be implemented, at least 80% of the network’s trustworthy validators must maintain their support. The earliest scheduled activation time is November 4, 2026, suggesting that the countdown has entered its final days. This timeline is keenly monitored to ensure that the core functionality of the XRP Ledger becomes more consistent.

Developers have also identified that the rule requiring certain tokens to be held only in issuer-approved accounts can be circumvented in specific cases. For assets subject to regulation, like stablecoins or tokenized funds, issuers typically mandate identity verification and approval before tokens are held. Four separate code changes were prepared to close these loopholes, consolidated under the upcoming fixCleanup3_5_0 network upgrade.

XRP Ledger developers are consolidating four code changes under the fixCleanup3_5_0 package to address exceptions where issuer-approved token holding rules can be bypassed.

This second batch of upgrades has yet to be integrated into XRP Ledger’s main software. Once integration is complete, fixCleanup3_5_0 will require over 80% support from the network’s trusted validators for two weeks, making the activation of the first package a short-term focus, while the second fix anticipates a longer approval process.

For users tracking the timing of these updates, CryptoAppsy offers a convenient way to monitor the process with its dedicated coin news stream and real-time updates. It provides a practical framework for those wishing to follow developments closely with unified access to validator votes, activation schedules, and new XRPL technical announcements.

Urgent Security Alert Issued for Linux Servers

Meanwhile, Hussein Zangana, the XRP Ledger Foundation’s community director, announced under the alias Vet that a critical security vulnerability has been discovered in the Linux kernel. The flaw impacts kernel versions 4.4 and upwards, posing risks to Linux servers with open IPv4 TCP ports that have not been patched.

Hussein Zangana stated that the fix has been released for XRPL node and validator operators using RHEL 8, 9, and 10, Debian 12 and 13, Amazon Linux, and Oracle UEK. He emphasized the need for system updates and reboots.

The fix has been distributed for XRPL node operators and validators using RHEL 8, 9, and 10, Debian 12 and 13, Amazon Linux, and Oracle UEK. Users in this group merely need to update their systems and restart them.

Users of Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, Rocky, and CentOS Stream may need to take additional steps. Until a permanent fix is issued for these distributions, the nft rule may need to be reapplied after a restart or when rules are reloaded. The warning highlights its significance for both network security and node continuity.
