Ripple-backed Evernorth Holdings commenced trading on the Nasdaq, designated as XRPN, yet XRP witnessed a more pronounced decline compared to the broader crypto market. Over the past 24 hours, XRP’s value has decreased by 3%, settling at $1.37, while its market capitalization stood at $86.4 billion.
Crypto Market Faces Broader Downturn
The cryptocurrency market experienced a general downturn, with the total market value declining by 2.8% over the same period. However, XRP’s losses outpaced most major cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin shed 1% of its value, while Ethereum showed more resistance with a 0.5% dip.
This scenario highlights that Evernorth’s public listing did not provide immediate support for the XRP price. Amidst persistent selling pressure in the market, XRP underperformed compared to similarly weighted assets.
Evernorth’s Public Offering: A New Chapter
On October 12, Evernorth Holdings commenced its journey on the Nasdaq after finalizing a merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II. Listed under the code XRPN, the firm holds approximately 473 million XRP, translating to roughly $648 million at current values.
Evernorth also announced a gross cash inflow of approximately $300 million, excluding transaction costs, establishing itself as the largest publicly traded company with direct XRP holdings. The company enjoys backing from Ripple, SBI Group, Arrington Capital, Pantera Capital, Kraken, and GSR.
Evernorth has positioned itself with a core focus on holding and managing XRP, setting its public offering apart from other institutional developments related to Ripple.
Initial Trading Day Shows Tepid Start
On its initial trading day, XRPN shares opened at approximately $19.38 but saw a downturn during the session, closing at $16.91, marking a 1.05% decrease compared to the prior session’s close.
Despite Evernorth’s concentrated focus on XRP, there was no significant surge in buying pressure. This is primarily because the XRP in Evernorth’s treasury largely constitutes previous investor contributions and past acquisitions.
During the debut on October 12, the market did not see an immediate purchase of 473 million XRP. Consequently, the listing did not generate additional short-term demand.
While Evernorth’s Nasdaq listing is a noteworthy structural step for XRP, it has not yet offered direct or swift support to its price.
