According to a statement from the White House, the United States, South Korea, and Japan’s national <a href="https://en.bitcoinhaber.net/scam-sniffer-reports-inferno-drainer-service-stole-6-million-in-cryptocurrency“>security officials held a meeting to discuss cryptocurrency thefts originating from North Korea.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Republic of Korea National Security Advisor Cho Tae-Yong, and Japan National Security Advisor Takeo Akiba gathered in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.
One of the main topics of the meeting was the joint efforts against North Korea’s use of cryptocurrencies to fund its illegal mass destruction weapons programs and consultations on regional crises.
The meeting also addressed North Korea’s relations with Russia and the activities of North Korea-based groups responsible for stealing billions of dollars in the cryptocurrency sector.
The US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned mixers used to obscure the trail of funds stolen by North Korean hackers and fined certain institutions.
