In the Ethereum network, Layer-2 networks emerged as a solution to high transaction fees and network congestion. However, problems continue to occur on these networks. On December 15, the official status website of the popular Ethereum Layer-2 network Arbitrum One reported a partial outage. What was the reason for this interruption?
According to the warning given on the subject, the sequencer network traffic came to a standstill during a significant increase in activity. According to data obtained by Arbiscan, which monitors the Arbitrum ecosystem, some blocks were produced, but during this period, it seems that only two transactions were processed in each block.
Among Arbitrum users, there is debate as to whether the outage was caused by minting transactions. This possibility might explain the small number of transactions seen in each block. However, this possibility has not been confirmed by the team.
Ricardo Gordon, a community manager on Arbitrum’s official Discord server, announced that the team would resolve the issue as soon as possible and that a final status report would be provided soon.
Arbitrum’s network, especially after an airdrop event, made a significant impact in the Web3 sector. The crash of the website opened for the airdrop due to heavy traffic and users’ inability to complete airdrop claim processes for a long time led to widespread discussions. The Arbitrum team’s inaction regarding the network caused ARB token prices to remain stable and led to criticism from investors towards the team.
