The existing selection process for the consensus committee relies on Verifiable Random Functions, which are still based on elliptic curve cryptography. Moreover, the messaging protocol employs Ed25519, which lacks quantum resilience.
How is Ripple Preparing XRPL for Quantum Threats?
Ripple, along with Project Eleven, is conducting an extensive review of the XRP Ledger. This investigation spans validators, custodial infrastructure, wallets, and network layers. The roadmap aims for full post-quantum readiness by 2028, beyond just wallet signatures, testing also includes hybrid quantum signing methods, validator performance, Devnet workloads, and a quantum-resistant custodial prototype.
